The Salvation Army of Central Maryland and St. Luke United Methodist Church Unite to collect school supplies for over 100 students from Sandtown-Winchester

(Baltimore, Maryland).  July, 2023 –The Salvation Army of Central Maryland will be working with St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sandtown-Winchester to help to make the next school year the best school year for 100  students  in Sandtown-Winchester by collecting school supplies and other necessary items for families in need.

For kids preparing for the upcoming school year, school supplies remain critical to their success. The Salvation Army adapts its services all around the country this time of year to ensure that children in every community can continue receiving the educational support they deserve. The support from the community will ensure children have the supplies they need, whether in online or in-person learning environments.

“We want to give love beyond backpacks to as many students possible. All children have the right to a backpack full of school supplies to start the school year right,” said Area Commander Major DeeAnn Glick. “Children are a blessing to the world, and we need to unite together to make sure they are prepared to excel.

On August 19th, Salvation Army volunteers and staff, and interested donors, can give a brand new backpack (with school supplies) to a student in-need and personally wish each child a successful school year at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Our goal is to make this fundraiser into an “Adopt a Student” event in which a donor will ensure that a child will have all the needed suppl1ies and support to succeed in the upcoming school year.

The Salvation Army of Central Maryland kindly asks all volunteers and donors to donate brand new backpacks filled with the following suggested Back-to-School items between July 21, 2023 and August 19th to our office located on 814 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21230.

Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Samantha Bowman at [email protected] to schedule a date to drop of your donated backpack.
