MEET PAUL, AN AIR FORCE VETERAN, FROM GLEN BURNIE
Paul frequents the Glen Burnie Service Center for weekly feedings. He is an Air Force veteran, rated as 100 percent disabled, and his wife Linda has advanced multiple sclerosis.
Paul comes from a long line of military families.
“My father Leo is also an air force veteran too, he served as a captain. He was a chief master sargeant and medic in the Korean war. He had a field promotion and retired as a captain. I really love the military, I really do. The military is a big part of my life,” said Paul.
Paul and his wife exist financially on disability and every penny counts due to the limited income coming in.
“I have been getting meals and ‘pantry on the go’ groceries from the Glen Burnie Service Center for three years now. The Salvation Army has been a tremendous blessing. They provide us with meals and they always pray for us. This is a fabulous establishment,” said Paul.
Wednesdays and Fridays is when the service center gives away meals such as beef stew, chicken meals, dumplings, or anything else that is high in protein and filling. ‘Pantry on the Go’, is a partnership with The Maryland Food bank, where fresh vegetables is provided once a month starting in March and ending in November.
Paul’s faith and support from The Salvation Army keeps him going. He’s also hoping people can pray for his wife, Linda. “I would really appreciate it if anybody who hears this, would pray for her.” Paul believes prayer and faith in God is a great form of medicine.
