HOW THE SALVATION ARMY’S ARC PROGRAM RECONNECTS PEOPLE WITH CHRIST
Alcoholism and drug addiction is widespread across the nation, and can touch people closest to you. What most people don’t know is that this form of addiction can isolate people from friends, family, and God. The thirst for the next high can unravel someone’s life, and lead them destitute into the streets. This is what happened to Kenny Childs, warehouse manager for The Salvation Army’s CFSP program, many years ago.
An addiction to alcohol isolated Kenny from his family, and drove him down a lonely path. What pulled him back into the loving arms of his family and to God, was participating in The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC).
The ARC is a free 6-12 month faith-based program that offers help to men who are looking to overcome their drug and/or alcohol addiction. The physical and spiritual care that the participants in the program receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment.
