First Annual Westminster Community Resource Festival

In May 3 of 2023, the Salvation Army of Carroll County hosted the highly anticipated Westminster Community Resource Festival, and it was an incredible success! The event brought together hundreds of residents from Westminster and surrounding areas, offering a day filled with delicious food, valuable resources, and exciting activities for all. Led by the dynamic duo of Alma Balsamo, Director of The Salvation Army of Carroll County,  and Jaimie Howard, Special Events Coordinator, of  this festival marked a significant step in bringing back community events and fostering a stronger sense of unity in Carroll County.

 

A Feast for the Senses:

The aroma of sizzling burgers and hot dogs filled the air as attendees arrived at the festival grounds. The Salvation Army ensured that everyone's taste buds were satisfied by providing a delectable assortment of food options. From juicy burgers to mouthwatering hot dogs, there was something to please every palate. The shared mealtime created an atmosphere of camaraderie and allowed people to connect over a shared love for good food.

 

Resources Galore:

One of the festival's highlights was the presence of over 30 social service and mental health-related vendors. These organizations set up booths to offer free resources, information, and support to the residents of Westminster. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with professionals and gain valuable insights into various social services available within the community. The presence of these vendors underscored the commitment of the Salvation Army to address the needs of the residents and promote overall well-being.

 

Supporting a Local Gem:

The Westminster Community Resource Festival not only benefited the attendees but also had a direct impact on a cherished local establishment—the Brass Hat Cafe. Through the festival, the Salvation Army successfully raised over $1,000, which will be directed towards supporting the Brass Hat Cafe. This generous contribution will undoubtedly help sustain this beloved community hub, allowing it to continue providing delicious food and warm hospitality to Westminster residents.

 

A Day of Fun and Engagement:

Beyond the food and resources, the festival offered a plethora of entertainment and engaging activities for individuals of all ages. Attendees could indulge their creative sides with arts and crafts stations, try their luck with exciting basket raffles and door prizes, and participate in entertaining games.
