DONOR SPOTLIGHT: PEGGY GREEN

Feb 22, 2022

Peggy Green is an octogenarian, Carroll County Resident, devoted grandma, $25.00 a month sustainer, and a pivotal volunteer at Brass Hat Café.

“I do more than just serve food. I have been volunteering at Brass Hat Café since May of 2017,” said Green. “What started as one night a week, turned into another night. And then another night.” Cooking, assorting pantry shelves, cleaning, assisting clients, is just a short list of duties Green performs.

Green vowed to volunteer, specifically for The Salvation Army. “I have always felt that sitting at home does nothing for you. So I tried to find something to do and then I came here. Brass Hat Café touches my heart and God said this is where I belong. Therefore I am here.” A couple years after retirement and after she raised some of her grandchildren to be middle school age, she devotes much of her time to assisting staff and clients at the café.

“Most of the clients are working families. And I think getting a meal three times a week helps them financially, because their wives, their husbands, don’t have to cook for those three nights a week,” said Green.

As both a donor and a volunteer, she sees a deep need for help in Carroll County. “I donate and volunteer at The Salvation Army because I know they do a lot of good things for a lot of people. They feed the people,” Green said. She also added that if Carroll County Service Center had more money the facility would be able to expand services such as provide rental, medical prescription, or shelter assistance.

As a 19 year resident of Carroll County, Green is a proud donor of Brass Hat Café and of The Carroll County Service Center.

“If you live in Carroll County. You should support Carroll County.”

There is love beyond skipped meals and there is love beyond empty cupboards.
