"Christmas in July" at Hampden Corps: Spreading Joy and Giving Back
As the summer heat radiates through the streets of Baltimore City, Hampden Corps, a vibrant church of The Salvation Army of Central Maryland, is turning up the yuletide spirit by celebrating "Christmas in July." Hampden Corps invited everyone to join in the festivities and experience the magic of the holiday season in the middle of summer.
On a sunny Saturday morning, families and friends gathered at Hampden Corps for a delightful event that combined festive merriment with a noble cause. The highlight of the day was none other than the presence of the beloved Santa Claus himself, played by Captain Matthew Tidman. Children and adults alike reveled in the opportunity to meet Santa, share their wishes, and capture precious moments in photographs.
Adding to the excitement, Hampden Corps organized a yard sale where donated items found new homes. The proceeds from this sale will go towards supporting the church's programs and initiatives that benefit the community. Through these efforts, the church aims to strengthen their ability to provide essential services and support to those in need.
The aroma of delicious food filled the air, making the occasion even more enjoyable. Volunteers from Hampden Corps and the local community worked tirelessly to prepare an array of mouthwatering treats. From warm cookies to savory snacks, the culinary offerings had everyone's taste buds dancing with delight. Sharing a meal together fostered a sense of unity and warmth, emphasizing the spirit of giving and togetherness that Christmas embodies.
"The Salvation Army is committed to spreading Christmas cheer and joy in July," says Major Roger Glick, the Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Central Maryland. "Our mission is to bring hope to those who need it the most, and through events like 'Christmas in July,' we can create moments of joy and touch lives with love and compassion."
Hampden Corps has been a pillar of support and service in the Baltimore community for many years, aiding individuals and families facing hardships. Whether it's offering shelter, distributing food, or extending a helping hand, the corps is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of the community.
Beyond the special events, Hampden Corps extends an open invitation to all to attend their Sunday service every week at 10 am.
