14th Annual 53 Families Thanksgiving Dinner: Feeding over, 5,300 Baltimore Residents

[Baltimore, MD, September 21, 2023] — 14th Annual 53 Families Thanksgiving Dinner event, presented by The Salvation Army of Central Maryland and 53 Families Foundation, in partnership with Sodexo Live and hosted by the Baltimore Convention Center will be held on Tuesday November 21, 2023. This extraordinary event will feature former Baltimore Ravens linebacker, Jameel McClain and current players from the team. 
This FREE family event will include delicious Thanksgiving Dinner and provide festive joy to over 5,300 individuals and families in need within the Central Maryland community.

This heartfelt Thanksgiving gathering is a testament to the spirit of unity and generosity, offering not just a hearty meal but also a memorable experience for attendees of all ages. Highlights of the event include engaging activities for children and exclusive meet and greets with professional football players.

Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Central Maryland, Major Roger Glick, expressed his excitement for this event, saying, "The Salvation Army has been a steadfast presence in Baltimore for over 140 years. Throughout this time, we have never ceased in our mission to feed the hungry and offer love and support to countless families in Central Maryland. This Thanksgiving event exemplifies our commitment to serving the community and spreading hope and joy."

First organized in 2010, 53 families core initiatives provide necessary resources for youth to be successful. Founder Jameel McClain often reflects back to period in his youth where he did not have basic needs such as shelter, food and clothing. 53 Families Foundation assists youth in these basic needs to help promote self-esteem to produce positive life results. Since the foundation’s inception, thousands of individuals have received resources including clothing, meals and financial support. The motto “Adversity Won’t Stop Me” is a direct reflection on the foundation, Jameel and the entire 53 Families family.
