WOMEN’S AUXILIARY MAY MEETING

Jun 15, 2022

In Mid-May the Women’s Auxiliary convened at The Salvation Army Middle River Corps for a day of fellowship, catching up, and getting down to busy with fundraising initiatives. President Betsie Johnson opened the meeting with a delightful poem that pulled at everyone’s heart. Lt. Schelika Chisolm of Temple Corps was the keynote speaker and designated chef who prepared a scrumptious lunch entailing chicken salad sandwiches on croissant, fruit cups, cheesecake slices, iced tea and lemonade. For the decorations, Spring blossomed on each table so to speak. Each auxiliary member were fashioned in elegant suits, and dresses.

For the Sunshine Report, cards were sent to member’s family members who are recuperating from ailments. Prayers were made for each person and words of hope were shared by all members for folks on this report. After the report, Lt, Chisolm introduced herself to members and detailed how she first got started with The Salvation Army and the various positioned she held before becoming an officer. The story that drew the crowd was how Lt. Chisolm met Captain Chisolm, her husband, and the ministry they perform today at Temple Corps. She concluded her lively speech with many thanks and prayers.

President Betsie Johnson got straight down to business and ignited a brainstorming session. She wanted to see if a “Trolly Tea Fundraiser” would help raise money for The Women’s Auxiliary. The ladies have already collected vintage teapots for the event and were pondering how else to upscale the “fancy” to boost more funds.  What started as a simple fundraising chat spawned into creative ways to make money to go back to The Salvation Army such as selling antique jewelry, baking delectable goods, holding a silent auction to sell dream items and crafting luxurious gift baskets for folks who need to unwind and feel like royalty.
